Report of the Corporate Director (Public Protection, Planning and Governance) on the status of actions agreed at the last meeting.

Minutes:

The Committee noted that the report of the Corporate Director (Public Protection, Planning and Governance) giving an update on actions from the meeting held on 21 January 2019, all of which had been completed.

 

Members were advised that Breaks Manor, Hatfield had been found as a venue for the Men’s Sheds project.

Councillor L.Chesterman declared a non-pecuniary interest in items on the Agenda as appropriate by virtue of being a Member of Hertfordshire County Council.

The Town Centres Team in the Council works through the Hatfield Town Centre Forum and the Welwyn Garden City BID to enhance and promote the vitality of the two town centres, each of which faces different challenges.  Since 2012, the Council’s involvement in town centres has been managed within the Housing and Community Team, which brings stability and synergy with other partnership activities that are relevant to the town centres. 

 

RESOLVED:

 

That the Town Centre Annual Progress Report 2018-19 be noted.

YOUTH AND SPORT PARTNERSHIPS ANNUAL REPORT 2018-19 pdf icon PDF 96 KB

Report of the Corporate Director (Housing and Communities) and accompanying presentation provides an update of the activities and events undertaken around young people and sport over the past year by the Community Partnerships Team who had successfully engaged with the local community.

Report of the Corporate Director (Housing and Communities) and accompanying presentation provided an update of the activities and events undertaken around young people and sport over the past year by the Community Partnerships Team who had successfully engaged with the local community.

 

There has been successful engagement with the local community, and especially with young people across the Borough.  New partnerships and relationships had also been developed with local, county and regional organisations.

 

Successes of the past year included; The development of a Year 12 business skills initiative called Challenge 12, a Holocaust Memorial Day Event, the creation of a Borough wide Young People’s Strategy, as well as the continued delivery of; Big Summer ‘18, the Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council, Mental Health campaigns, Herts Year of Physical Activity, Primary School Games and This Girl Can.

 

RESOLVED:

 

That the Youth and Sport Partnerships Annual Report 2018-19 be noted.

Report of the Corporate Director (Resources, Environment and Cultural Services) and accompanying presentation informs of the work of the Council’s Museum Service over the period April 2018 to March 2019.

Report of the Corporate Director (Resources, Environment and Cultural Services) and accompanying presentation informed of the work of the Council’s Museum Service over the period April 2018 to March 2019. 

 

The report enabled the Committee Members to see how the Museum Service contributed to local community life in the Borough through its focus on arts, culture, education and heritage.

The presentation better illustrated the depth and breadth of the work of the Museum Service across its two sites in the Borough and through the use of photographic images helped Members who may not have visited over the past year to better visualise its work and to stimulate questions and comments as part of the overview and scrutiny of this service.

Performance indicators used to measure how well the Council was performing and improving services over time.  They could also be used to help plan for future service improvements where the service was consistent with our published corporate priorities set out in the Council’s Business Plan 2018-21.

That the Performance Indicators for Quarter Three for 2018-19 be noted.
